Pacheco Coto's IP Division advises clients on all aspects of Intellectual Property Law including Patent, Trademark, Trade Secret and Copyright Law, as well as related rights such as plant variety protection, domain names and integrated circuit designs. The division also represents the client's IP issues related to competition and consumer law, e-commerce, food and drug related agencies and international trade.

Our practice is broad-ranging, from the prosecution and registration of rights before the respective national and international offices and their enforcement before the competent judicial and administrative authorities, to the counseling of franchise, license and technology transfer agreements.

The Firm's IP Division, a pioneer in intellectual property litigation practice in Costa Rica, has vast experience handling trademark anti-counterfeit and unfair competition cases, in both civil and criminal courts, for the most reputable multinational companies.

The following are notable cases handled by the Firm's IP Division:

• Successfully obtaining raid and seizure orders for Levi Strauss & Company and Quiksilver International, in the first criminal actions filed under the new IP enforcement law.
• Coordinating a raid for Quiksilver International in connection with a chain of eight stores found selling and distributing counterfeit goods in different cities in Costa Rica.
